Chocolate Croissant Pudding Cake

Croissants! Probably one of the friendliest cakes around! Why? Because when you turn them around, they look like they're smiling at you! Yes, not only to anyone, but to you in particular! There's no other cake around that looks like it's smiling at you! And guess what! If you split a quarter of a croissant, that's FOUR smiles! And what's even better is that if you add a little chocolate, Nutella and eggs, you get a mouthwatering chocolate pudding, filled with a delicious chocolate-custard-chocolate-croissant-pudding pudding! So rich and chocolate and so quick to make!

Apparently there is quite a bit of controversy surrounding the origin of the Croissant! Here I sit here, minding my own business thinking that some friendly Frenchman randomly came up with the idea of making a crescent-shaped cake as opposed to the round kind, but 'No!', it's way more embarrassing than that!

Legend says that Croissants originated in Budapest in 1686, when the Turks besieged the city. To reach the city center, they dug an underground passage. The baker, who worked at night, heard the noise made by the Turks and sounded the alarm. The invaders were shocked and the bakers who had saved the city were given the privilege of making a special cake which had to be in the shape of a crescent moon in memory of the emblem on the Ottoman flag. Larousse Gastronomic, Jenifer Harvey Lang, [Crown: New York] 1988 (p .338)

Now I have two problems with this legend. Number one, since when did the baker bake all night, day and night, especially when the invaders attacked? It's like “Oh! A bomb just exploded! Wait, my sour dough isn't finished yet.” And Number Duo, how did the baker save this town? Don't tell me they took out the rolling pin and waved it and this scared the Turks?! This is the perfect time! Boys and girls can't believe every legend you hear! But believe me when I say that this is a delicious pudding! Maximum chocolate flavor in minimum time!
